It can be an uncomfortable topic during introductory conversations 😅
Yep >>> MONEY! We’ve learned how helpful it is to understand budget considerations early in a product design and development project.
And there isn't necessarily one budget to discuss.
There's the budget for design and development services, the investment required for sampling, the eventual production budget, etc.
All of these help shape the decisions we make along the way.
We COMPLETELY understand why brands and founders might hesitate to share numbers early on, especially before they know what the work might involve.
But understanding what you're comfortable investing doesn't mean we're automatically going to design a project that uses every dollar.
It helps us understand what's realistic, where to prioritize, and how to structure the work.
At Form Space, we don't have a one-size-fits-all process. Some brands come to us with a clear product direction and need design and development support. Others are exploring an entirely new category and need help establishing the foundation first.
There are often different ways to approach a project.
Maybe we start with a focused concept and design phase before committing to sampling and further development. Maybe we prioritize one product rather than an entire collection. Maybe we explore existing materials and components rather than developing everything from scratch.
That doesn't mean every budget can accommodate every scope. But there can be more flexibility in how we approach the work than people might realize.
And sometimes the most helpful conversation happens before anyone has a formal brief or a fully defined budget.
We genuinely enjoy figuring these things out with people.
