The Material ConneXion Library

Inside the NYC Material ConneXion library

Can’t believe it took us this long to visit Material ConneXion in person.

It truly felt like stepping into a material wonderland. A serious treasure trove.

Over 10,000 materials catalogued and categorized. Emerging polymers. Waste composites. Bio-based textiles. Performance finishes. Surfaces I hadn’t seen before.

For those unfamiliar, Material ConneXion is a global materials library used by brands ranging from Nike and LV to major architecture and design firms.

You can book in-person sessions where their team pulls materials based on your brief ahead of time and walks you through them. They also offer deeper technical guidance, including access to material scientists when you need to go beyond surface-level exploration.

What’s interesting is that many larger companies already have access through enterprise memberships, and team members may not realize it. Check it out!

For an independent studio like Form Space, this kind of resource is invaluable. Staying close to cross-industry innovation allows us to translate what’s happening in mobility, architecture, and performance wear into smarter decisions for travel goods and accessories.
