Musings from Lineapelle | NY January 2026

Yesterday’s Lineapelle visit felt quieter than past years. A lot of folks saying things have slowed.

But that made space for deeper conversations and quality time with vendors, which was really meaningful.

A few innovations that got our brains ticking (images in comments):
• beLEAF leather, derived from the elephant ear leaf and born from regenerative farming processes. This sat alongside fish-scale leather used by Rick Owens, made from discarded pirarucu scales in the Brazilian Amazon
• Incredibly intricate leather and wool woven panels by David Leather Expressions. Made to pattern size, woven by hand, with minimal waste, and they do some work for Clare V. Even more beautiful in person, truly breathtaking!
• A playful student installation from Hongik University, exploring the love of food culture with origami “playable” bags (see the video below)

Yesterday was inspiring and human. It was a great chance to reconnect with past collaborators and friends, and get a sense of where things are heading.
